Our 5 Axis CNC Router when new

CNC Machining- A CNC router is a computer controlled router that allows accurate cutting of many materials.  Turn Point Design specializes in accurate CNC cutting of substrates including plastics, wood, foams, tooling boards, graphite block, aluminum, and many others.  Before we can send a cut file to the CNC machine we first need an accurate CAD model to program from.  With this in hand we can produce complex shapes at up to .002” accuracy depending on the materials.

5-axis CNC Machining- Our 5-axis CNC machine allows us to cut large molds and parts upto the size of a small car.  For larger parts and molds we will cut in pieces that can be joined once shipped.  The 5-axis CNC we have is very accurate within its cutting envelope and can achieve accuracies of up to .003”.

3-axis CNC Machining- Our 3-axis CNC machine is ideal for cutting sheet goods all day long and very high accuracy.  Materials we process on the 3-axis machine are plastic sheets, plywood, MDF, foam panels, aluminum parts, and most other sheet goods.  It is ideal for cutting kit boats or station sets for large molds.  It has a very powerfull vacuum pump to hold the sheet goods flat onto the cutting table and also a seperate dust collection vacuum system.  The 3-axis machine is slightly more accurate in its cutting envelope compared to the 5-axis and can achieve accuracy up .002”.
